Seasons for a Reason

Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring! Personally, its really hard to choose which one is my favorite! Summer means no school and warm weather, but also  includes working many hours a day to save up money. Fall is just full of adorable clothes and boots and of course Pumpkin Spice Lattes, one of my favorites! Winter is only great to me if it involves snow and skiing, but for all of my west Texas readers, you know how much that never happens. Last but not least, Spring! Winding down the end of a school year, and pushing for that final stretch ( thankfully starting to warm up as well!)

Time to bring out the winter coats!

My first Pumpkin Spice ever!

There are other meanings to a "season" besides just the weather change, and these kinds of seasons usually aren't 4 times a year either.

Seasons of life!

We all go through them! From the time we are babies, to the time we depart to heaven, seasons began while others come to an end. For me, its fun to look back on my seasons of life.

The season of being a kid.. ahh the simplicity of being a young !
Having Mommy and Daddy there to fix all of your little troubles when they arise.I have so many memories of growing up especially with my brother. My parents gave us all of the great opportunities that children should have! Just to name a few pleasures of being a child.. Halloween Costumes ( when it was actually okay to dress up and go trick-or-treating!), Easter ( don't forget the egg hunting!), and celebrating each birthday with excitement! I love to think about the days when the only activity after school was either playing outside for hours on end or going to dance class! Now , now, What is a blog without pictures from the old days.... enjoy little Bailey !

For times sake, and also for the fact that I don't seem to have any pictures from Jr.High , my next season in life is High School! Everyone says make the best of it because it will fly fast..well  everyone is right. It seems just like yesterday that I was a freshman in high school! I remember my first color guard performance, my first volleyball and softball game, my first A on a test I studied super hard for, as well as the first 70 on a test I worked even harder on!  In the blink of an eye, the end of this season started to come to an end...senior year,
It was time to get serious, let go of the "being a kid" season, and prepare for my future!

Last day of Freshman year !

Texas Tech here I come!

Finally Graduation with my family!

I've learned that life doesn't simply stop if you aren't ready for what is to come. I was honestly really nervous to start this new season of my life that I am in now. COLLEGE! Every little thing I did for 18 years was geared toward my future, or specifically college, but I still questioned whether I was ready for it. I wished that I could go back to the easy times when I was a kid and color in class, or go outside and play after school, but that's not how growing up seems to work. So I was headed off to my next season, living on my own! ( it's scary even saying that sometimes )

My parents visiting for my performance!

I honestly think there are many seasons in the first year of college.

Just to name a few I've experienced so far...and many more to discover...
1. Move-in and you're left alone to fend for yourself ! ( with amazing roommates I must add though)
2. You start to figure out your new daily life and become super happy you are adjusting!
3. You realize things are getting harder and you start to miss home.( mostly your parents & dogs)
4. You go visit home & don't want to come back to college!( but you do anyway)
5. You finally realize that this is your new home when someone asks " hey where are you going?" and you say " home" as in your dorm room.. ( kinda shocks you those words just came out!)
6. Independece becomes a whole new, great , amazing word to you. Its pretty awesome !
and last but not least
OVER ALL season of college...
You find out you can really be you..you find yourself..
the person you've always wanted to be but were just waiting to let go!
Warning: Picture overload coming!

2014 Colorguard Rookies

Walking to class with two of my roommates ( Sarah and Mary)

My desk, where I spend a lot of my time !

I absolutely love where I am right now in life. Its challenging, but I am so thankful to be at Texas Tech, to have supportive parents and roommates, and to actually be surviving college!
Times do get hard. Those 3 am in the morning nights to finish homework that took you 6 hours are pretty though. The first time getting sick and not having your parents take care of you isn't very fun. And let me tell you... I MISS HOME COOKED MEALS so bad.
Studying? Coffee always makes it better
Starbucks at 11 pm with roomies? College perks!

But
I am having the time of my life! I'm seeking out every great opportunity that God is showing me.  I strive to learn everything I can from this season I am in right now, because I know soon that the next one will come.. called sophomore year!

More posts to come about my experience as a freshman at Texas Tech!
